G is Gauge and it is English/American Non-SI/ISO way of
measuring things.
Whenever Gauge is used in measure, it is usually related to a
standard weigh or dimension.
For example, in weapons, a 12 gauge shot gun means.... the amount
of lead shots that would total to 1 pound. Meaning, 1 pound
consists of 12 lead projectiles of the same diameter.
So 10 gauge will equal to 1 pound therefore, the diameter is bigger
thus heavier therefore only 10 will make 1 pound.
So on and so forth....
to explain why 16G is bigger than 22G, you will need to know what
standard needles use. therefore you will need to first find out
what 1G needle is... therefore 16 G is 1/16 of that.
This kind of measurement is found usually in US/UK.
